There was a special focus on PRP with hair transplantation and as a stand-alone therapy for hair loss. Melbourne Hair Transplant uses the Regen PRP System for maximum results. PRP is primarily used in the transplantation process and for graft enhancement. PRP is a mixture of platelets and plasma and is derived from a small sample of the patient’s own blood.
PRP decreases hair loss and increases hair volume and strength. It is a stimulator of hair growth. The main benefit of PRP is in its ability to reawaken or reinvigorate miniaturized hairs on the scalp, that have been damaged by long term exposure to the DHT (Dihydrotestosterone – the hormone in the blood that attacks and breaks down hair follicles). In addition, PRP is useful in the preservation and enhancement of hair follicle viability during and after hair transplantation.
